about the show
Reflections are the little visual “extras” that the combination of light and reflective surfaces offer us. They are there for the taking, if we even register them as part of our visual landscape.
Most intriguing to me are the reflections that do not exclude that which is on the other side of the window, the inside and outside mingling in one frame. Photographed, these reflections flatten space into complex compositions of transparent, overlapping layers, and in doing so, create virtual vignettes with a story of their own. Taken out of their original context, reflected compositions encourage the viewer to decipher the layers, making sense of forms on one plane dissected by those of another.
Only cropping, to emphasize the details of the layers, has altered these images. No forced overlapping of images, no photoshopping involved.
Images were taken in New York City, Toronto, and Paris (France)
