FRANKLIN ISLAND WORKSHOP
2 nights/3 days
Space is limited to 6 participants only.
The workshop fee of $300 is payable at time of registration.
This workshop is for beginner and intermediate-level photographer who are comfortable camping and sleeping under the stars. It should also appeal to those who want to photograph landscapes in the outdoors.
Franklin Island is located on the eastern shores of Georgian Bay. The landscape is classic Georgian Bay with low-lying terrain and exposed bedrock. The photographic opportunities here are endless. If the weather co-operates and the stars are out, we’ll try some star trail images and light painting. A new moon would have just appeared a day earlier so the nights will be relatively moonlight free.
We keep our workshop groups small, so what you’ll receive is hands-on, one-on-one photography instruction. We’ll cover the basics of camera control, including aperture, shutter speed and ISO. How and when to use them. Over the course of the weekend we’ll discuss composition and how to create engaging and powerful images by employing the rule of thirds, leading lines and depth of field.
Photo critique is also a big part of the process. We’ll have a tablet device (ipad or similar) on hand to review your images. This gives you an opportunity for immediate feedback which is critical in the learning process.
Our overall goal for this workshop is to capture a sense of place in this unique landscape environment.
